Because our chicken jerky & meal topper is made from 100% human-grade chicken breast & nothing else!

Did you know that many commercial pet foods contain ingredients that are designed to increase their flavour appeal to pets & increase the product's shelf-life while research has shown that they can negatively affect the health of your fur-kid(s)?

Commercial chicken jerky products include some ingredients you may not be aware of (scarily, this is not an exhaustive list) - soy protein, vegetable glycerine, salt, sorbitol, composite phosphates (450, 451, 452), starch, calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide colourants.

  • Soy protein is often used to increase the protein % advertised for the product but can only be digested in moderation.

  • Vegetable glycerine is classified as a sugar alcohol & is added as a sweetener to tempt pets.

  • Salt is needed by pets in moderation but too much can be toxic (in Australia, there is no legislative requirement to specify the amount of salt in a pet product).

  • Sorbitol is another sugar alcohol added as a sweetener & can't be fully digested by pets in the small intestine.

  • Composite phosphates (450, 451, 452) are used for moisture retention, emulsification & as a preservative.

  • Starch is often used as a low-cost filler in pet products & can include corn, wheat, rice & potatoes. Excessive starch intake is not natural for pets & can result in excess weight & diabetes.

  • Calcium carbonate is a chemical compound (which is not unusual) typically used to treat pets with low calcium levels. It is also used as a preservative & a colour-retention agent.

  • Titanium dioxide colourants are a food grade whitening agent with no health concerns identified in Australia as a food additive. But, do pets (or humans) need it?

In Queensland, the governing regulation states that all meat is handled & processed to a human consumption standard UNTIL it is diverted to the animal consumption supply chain.

I truly believe that it is our responsibility as pet caretakers to not feed low-grade, potentially un-hygenic 'leftovers' that would otherwise be discarded.

Because I use only human-grade chicken, beef, lamb & eggs
Because our product is actually cheaper than most commercial products

I don't need to tell anyone that economic times are tough. I am able to keep costs down by buying in bulk, directly from local suppliers & performing every task from start to finish myself.

Having been a 'Mum' to horses, cats & dogs (& 2 human boys), I understand that we feed the best product we can afford & that's exactly why I do all I can to make Miss Pip's affordable.

  • Joint health - the gelatin and collagen in bone broth can help to reduce inflammation and improve joint mobility, making it especially beneficial for older dogs or those with arthritis.

  • Digestive health - bone broth is gentle on the digestive system and can help to soothe gut inflammation. It is also rich in amino acids and minerals that can support healthy digestion and nutrient absorption.

  • Skin & coat health - the collagen in bone broth can help to improve the health and appearance of your pet’s skin and coat. It can help to reduce dryness, itching, and flakiness, leaving your pet with a shiny and healthy coat.

  • Hydration - especially in the hot weather, it can be hard for your pet to stay hydrated. Bone broth is a great way to keep your pet hydrated, as it is both delicious and full of moisture.

  • Immune support - the nutrients in bone broth, such as vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, can help to support a healthy immune system in dogs. This can help to prevent illness and keep your furry friend feeling their best.

  • Weight management - bone broth is low in calories and fat, making it a great option for overweight pets or those needing to maintain a healthy weight. It can be used as a low-calorie treat or added to your pet’s meals to help them feel full without adding extra calories.

Because the health benefits of bone broth are amazing!
